OUR MISSION

To provide high-volume, low-cost sterilization as the only humane, sustainable solution to the overpopulation of dogs and cats in Central Alabama, to maintain the highest level of veterinary care and customer service, to address and respond to the needs of our customers and, to the best of our ability, assure that our services are available to everyone.

HISTORY

Each year, Alabama animal shelters euthanize over 150,000 dogs and cats. Many are healthy, adoptable dogs and cats waiting to be someone’s loving pet. Providing a humane, long-term solution to this tragedy was the incentive for the creation of the Alabama Spay/Neuter.

Incorporated as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in March 2007, Alabama Spay/Neuter’s Board of Directors felt that opening a facility that provided high-quality, high-volume, low-cost spay/neutering was the only sustainable way to end the overpopulation of dogs and cats in Central Alabama.

On June 4, 2008 Alabama Spay/Neuter performing nine surgeries. Over the next 15 months, the clinic performed 12,124 spay/neuter surgeries from our temporary facility – a double-wide trailer. Alabama Spay/Neuter moved to the permanent facility and began operations on September 10, 2009. The new state-of-the-art facility was designed and built specifically as a high-volume, high-quality spay/neuter clinic.

Over the last 12 years, over 130,000 spay/neuter surgeries have been performed at Alabama Spay/Neuter.
